This has begun to accumulate into a fairly large body of photographs, and one that I suspect will continue to grow because there is a richness of subjects hidden on the back ways through the city. I am, in fact, getting ready to submit a number of these photos for an upcoming show at the Photo Center in Troy. I'm not going to post any of the pictures I will submit until after I learn which, if any, are accepted for the show. Off for a couple of days to meet with some folks about an ongoing project we are working on that deals with developing an improved, small size, low weight, low power, wearable vision processing system. Could be a worthwhile meeting, but then again, it could just be a waste of time. Some of the pieces were pretty amazing. One of the winners was this amazing black and white mother and child piece. While I was taking this picture I got to talking with two women standing there and commented how much I liked the piece. One of the women smiled and said her daughter had done it. This glass blower was in the process of making a glass Christmas tree ornament. I was struck by this unique mask that made me think of only one thing: Miss Piggy and Kermit! The one I was on was much like the one to the right in the picture and is used for testing the engines on the Space Shuttle. The one to the left is a new stand being built now for testing the high altitude rockets planed for the Ares program that is currently scheduled to replace the Shuttle by 2011. When walking past them on the way towards Bourbon St. all the tables were bereft of customers; but on our return this one had someone intent on learning the secret meaning in those wrinkles on her hand. The big news in the local area today was the presence of the Lady Christine, one of the the largest 100 super yachts in the world, tied up to the docks in Troy. Seems everyone in town was over there shooting pictures of this 182 foot long display of opulence. Apparently you can buy it for a mere 39 Million Euros!
