![]() The family album has lots of pictures taken of family members going fishing, fishing, and admiring fish caught. I guess I never fully realized how much fishing was an activity that drew us together, generation to generation. According to the note in the album, my mother claims this to be the first fish I caught. Maybe, but somehow I don't think that is right. There was a time, when much younger than this, that I went fishing with my grandfather very early one morning on the Jersey Shore and caught a flounder that he and I had for breakfast. The dog in this picture -- named 'Keatly Cottingham' on his pedigree papers, or simply Keats to us -- was a very wild beast that never really adapted to our family (or us to him) so he was sent to live in a more conducive place, I believe on a farm someplace near us.
