Via Rail Dome Car | Permalink

I had the great privelige on two occasions to take the train out of Vancouver, BC eastwards through the Canadian Rockies. The first time I did it in 1970 on the the old Candian Pacific Railroad and travelled by coach as far as Calgary, and flew home the remainder of the trip. The second time, in 1981, I traveled with my future wife on the same line, reincarnated at Via Rail. We had a bedroom for the trip all the way to Montreal.

Like most tourists, we took grand pleasure in arising early in the morning of the first night out to spend time up in the dome car as the train wound its way through the Rockies.
