My Father and Me, 1955 | Permalink

As I begin the task of scanning both my own slides and delving into the thousands of pictures I inherited from my father, I decided to start a new blog. As I start this effort, I plan to share tidbits of photographic imagery from my past (or at least from my family's past) accompanied by my sometimes inadequate memories of the events leading to the picture. I am making no attempts to create a chronological overview so as the days and months roll out, regular viewers will be asked to bare with being 'unstuck in time' as Kurt Vonnegut would have put it.

I thought it appropriate, because most of the pictures to be featured on these pages will have been taken either by me or my father that I would begin with a shot of the two of us together. I have to guess this picture was taken by my mother. As with many Kodacolor pictures taken some 51 years ago, this image suffered from fading and loss of color. I did the best I could to restore the image. As I get more familiar with the scanner and the techniques for restoring old shots, I suppose the quality will improve.
