Helderberg Escarpment

The weather was not the best, but a few of the members of 'albanyshooters' showed up early this morning (Sunday) to meet one another and to take a nice excursion along the edge of the Helderburg Escarpment southwest of Albany. Geologically a fascinating formation, there are 100+ foot cliffs that run for at least a mile. There is a nice trail that drops down along the face of the cliffs and treats the hiker to a couple of spectacular waterfalls.

It was very overcast when we arrived but by the time we were leaving the sun had peaked out a bit and the view was somewhat greater than it had been earlier, though still not able to see the Berkshire Mountains of western Massachusetts or the Adirondacks. So we made the best of the conditions.

Pic of the Day
Actually not a single picture. This site is a little old, but if you have not seen it, it is REALLY worth taking a few minutes. The site explains the concept, but suffice to say this site has some of the most poignant portraits of 'regular' people I have seen in a long time. A picture of a stranger every day for a year. This is really a great site. Please go and take a look!
