 I went to see the Shrine of Auriesville on Saturday. I've driven past many times over the years but never stopped to visit. Its a site associated with three Catholic Saints, all french missionaries during the 17th century who were captured and held by a group of Mohawks for several years. All three were martyred in their attempts to bring Christianity to the native populations of the New World. This is a view across the Mohawk River valley from the Visitor Center. | |
