EXIF: OLYMPUS IMAGING CORP. uT6000,ST6000 | 1/400 sec | f 6.3 | 6.5mm (35mm equivalent: 36.0mm) | ISO 50

I am playing with my new toy, purchased with help from my Mother for my Birthday (Thanks, Mom!!).

When my trusty Fuji F20 bit the dust (literally) and became unusable due to filth on the sensor, I was left without a pocket camera. Recently, there have been a number of low-cost rugged, waterproof cameras on the market. I saw some work from the Olympus Tough 6000 on a web site a few months ago and thought it looked good. In a recent review on DPReview, the Tough 6000 didn't fare all that well but since Olympus has upgraded to the Tough 8000 and a different model of the 6000, it is possible to find good deals on the original Tough 6000, which I did.

The camera arrived Friday so I have just been shooting normal shots with it so far. Looking forward to doing something fun with its underwater capability.

I am pleased with its macro function. It has a super macro that allows me to focus to less than an inch from the subject. I suspect I'll play with that a lot.

This was lunch yesterday!
