Those of us using My-Expressions for our photoblogs learned today that Lor and Gordon are moving on to other endeavors and leaving Expressions in a self supported state. We are assured that we can post here 'indefinitely.' Hardly a strong sign of future stability. While we all have benefited from Lor's and Gordon's incredible support over the years, I am more than a little afraid to lose the last few years of hard work found on this site and my companion site at Scanning My Life. There is apparently no established means for exporting the pictures, comments, and text entries from Expressions into alternative formats so I have been busy 'printing' PDF's of all of the pages. Tedious project. As much as I love Expressions, I think it will be necessary to move forgingahead to another service. I'll stick around to see how things shake out, but someone is footing the bill for the bandwidth and they won't do it forever. We have an incredibly talented group of users here, many of who I know can step up to the needs of the community for support purposes, but we could all wake up some day and find the servers shut down. Tomorrow I am going to be away on a short pleasure trip for the evening and night. I expect a great deal of inspiration and, if things work out as I am hoping, may blossom into a significant new direction for my photography. I expect to say more about that effort when I return on Thursday.
